Firefighters extinguish equipment fire at Sika Sarnafil

Twelve firefighters and a fire unit from Stoughton responded to a small oven fire at Sika Sarnafil, a roofing manufacturer located at 100 Dan Road, on February 26 around 10:30 a.m. Fire Lt. Brian Marshall said the oven overheated and damage was confined to the materials in the oven. The building was evacuated for an hour. In other Fire Department news, four firefighters and Deputy Chief Scott Johnson responded to a house fire on Dover Road in Westwood on Monday, March 4.

 

Motor vehicle accident knocks down utility poles

A Middleboro man is facing OUI and motor vehicle charges following a single-car accident that knocked down two telephone poles at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Pleasant Circle just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 2. Police and fire officials said the driver and two passengers in the vehicle did not need medical treatment at the scene. Police arrested Dylan A. Storch, 26, and charged him with OUI liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation.
