John J. “Jack” Reilly, 88, of Canton, passed away December 22 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Mission Hill, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Theresa (Barrett) Reilly and stepson of the late Norah Reilly. He graduated from Mission High School and enlisted in the Army at age 18, and when he returned home from WWII he began working for the Red Sox, where he worked for over 50 years, retiring as treasurer in 1992.

During that time he graduated from Northeastern University. He and his wife, Barbara, married in 1956 and settled in Canton in 1961 to raise their four boys. He and Barbara loved travel, Irish music, dancing, singing, and his beloved Red Sox.

Beloved husband of the late Barbara A. (Steele). Father of Mark and his wife, Barbara, of Walpole, John J. Jr. and his wife, Julie, of East Greenwich, RI, Christopher and his wife, Annette, of Cumming, GA, and Michael and his wife, Heidi, of Canton. Brother of Mary Reilly of West Roxbury and the late Edward Reilly. Grandfather of Jacqueline, Colleen, Jack, Gweneth, Charlotte, Andrew, Lauren, Caroline (Coco), and Samuel.

Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Thursday, December 27, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral mass in St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton Friday at 10 a.m. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. Donations may be made in his memory to the Jimmy Fund, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02248.
