Blue Hills football coach wins Coach of the Year

By

The Eastern Massachusetts Association of Interscholastic Football Officials (EMAIFO) is pleased to announce the selection of Ed Catabia of Blue Hills Regional Technical High School in Canton as its 2012 Robert Donovan Coach of the Year.

The Coach of the Year award is given annually to the high school football coach who best exemplifies high ethical standards in the teaching of the game of football to boys so that they become men who exemplify the finest traits of American sportsmanship.

Catabia has coached at Blue Hills for 33 years, the last five as head coach. And while this award is not about winning, his success on the field is as impressive as his success in keeping to the standards of the award. In the 33 years he has been associated with the program, Blue Hills has had just one losing season. In his five years as head coach, the Warriors have won two league championships and two Super Bowl berths with one Super Bowl championship.

Catabia credits his players and his assistant coaches for his success. He will receive his honor at the EMAIFO’s annual banquet on November 15 at the Emerald Hall in Braintree.

For more information about the EMAIFO, contact Ken Sargent, secretary, at 857-939-0291 or secretary@emaifo.net.
