Eleanor T. Russo (Trupasso), 89, of Canton, passed away October 15 at New England Sinai Hospital.

Born in Everett, she was raised in Revere and graduated from Revere High School. She has lived in Canton for the last 27 years and previously lived in Winchester. She was a member of the Canton Catholic Women’s Club and was an avid golfer and a member of the Wampatuck Country Club for many years. In her earlier years, she was a member of the Winchester Country Club.

Eleanor was a very dedicated member of the Order Sons of Italy in America, joining the Winchester Women’s Lodge over 40 years ago. In Winchester, she served in many offices and on many committees, including the office of president. She went on to serve on the state level and was very active in many capacities. As state deputy, she coordinated the leadership of the lodges in her assigned district. She served as state chairman of the Junior Division, encouraging the youth to become involved. She served as state public relations director and editor of the Sons of Italy News, which is published monthly and distributed throughout the state. She was also elected as a delegate to the national convention for many years. She worked as a sales associate for Jordan Marsh for many years before retiring.

She was the beloved wife of the late James J. Sr. Mother of James J. Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Mansfield. Sister of Anthony Trupasso of North Andover and the late Frank Trupasso, Elizabeth Renna, Ann Russell, and Josephine Papp. Grandmother of James W. of CA, Michael J. and his wife, Courtney, of Swampscott, and Joseph P. and his wife, Amanda, of CA. Also survived by four great-grandchildren and her former daughter-in-law Susan Poirier of Walpole.

Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Friday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton Saturday morning at 10:30. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations may be made in her memory to St. John the Evangelist Church, 700 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021.
