Leonard D. Lawrie, 84, of Norwood, formerly of Canton, passed away August 30 at Norwood Hospital.

Born and raised in Canton, he graduated from Canton High School and was an Army veteran of WWII. He worked as a foreman at Plymouth Rubber for many years before retiring. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved to work in his garden and read the newspaper.

Beloved husband of Doris M. (Doody). Father of Linda Braunstein of Quincy, Jeanne Kling of Halifax, and Catherine Lawrie of Walpole. Stepfather of John Porter of CT, James Porter of Wrentham, Mary Ellen Akins of Medway, and Anne Marie Jenks of Walpole. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Robert, and Charles Lawrie, and a grandson, Mark Christopher Pfeil.

A funeral mass was held Saturday morning, September 1, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. Donations may be made in his memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
