Selectman’s Close Shave

By

When Canton Selectman Sal Salvatori read in the Canton Citizen about 10-year-old Griffin Lincoln’s efforts to raise $3,000 to help kids with cancer by participating in the One Mission Kid’s Cancer Buzz-Off, he gave Lincoln a challenge: “Raise $5,000 and you can shave my head!” With less than two weeks before the Buzz-Off, the JFK fourth grader accepted Salvatori’s challenge and raised an additional $2,383 over his initial goal, for a total to date of $5,383.

On Sunday, June 3, Lincoln (pictured at right), along with classmate Will Arcovitch (left), participated in the Buzz-Off, shaving their heads along with 400 other participants, including New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Three days later, Salvatori honored his challenge by letting Lincoln shave his head in front of his class at the Kennedy School. Lincoln is accepting donations until September; if you are interested in helping kids with cancer, go to firstgiving.com/fundraiser/griffinlincoln/kidscancerbuzz-off.
