Veterans Agent: Salute to the parade marchers

By

The town of Canton is indebted to those groups who show up year in and year out and march in the Memorial Day Parade. Many towns have dropped their parades for lack of participation by its residents, veterans, and veterans’ organizations. We hope to continue as long as we have the support and participation of these great people who make up the core of the parade and those who help in many ways:

The Police Honor Guard & Firing Squad, Police Motorcycle Escort, Police and Fire Department members, Fire Department Honor Guard, Board of Selectmen, Rep. Bill Galvin, Legion band (the mainstay of Canton’s parade for over 90 years), veteran marchers of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, Iraq, National Guard, Reservists, peacetime and Cold War veterans, Boys & Girls State reps, Girl/Boy Scouts, Cubs/Brownies, Elaine McCarthy and GMS students, Canton High School band with Director Brian Thomas, Fr. McLellan, Karen Ronayne, Larry Pushard, Brian Fitzgerald, Charlie Penders, Louis Jutras, Peter Pineo, Jim Penza, Tony Pinheiro, Legion Post #24 members, Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of the Legion, Billy Walsh, and members of the DPW.

Salute to the Younger Generation

The following letter was received from Caitlyn and Kayla Connolly and their cousin, Jacqueline Connolly, with a donation of $81.50:

Dear Mr. Andreotti,

My name is Caitlyn Connolly, my sister Kayla Connolly and my cousin Jacqueline Connolly had a lemonade stand. We would like to donate the money we raised to you so you can help the veterans who made this country free. God Bless America. Thank you.

Love, Caitlyn, Kayla and Jacqueline Connolly

The veterans in the town of Canton would like to thank you for your hard work and love of county. With young people like you, our nation will continue to be free with a bright future.

Thank you,

Tony Andreotti, Veterans Service Officer
