Note to Residents: Please Stop Littering

By

Dear Editor:

Our town is being trashed with beer cans, bottles, and fast food wrappers. Properties along Cedar and Greenlodge streets in particular are littered with beer cans and boxes. The 16th hole at the Ponkapoag Golf Course is a sea of beer cans and liquor bottles.

It is disheartening to know that some people in town are thoughtless about our environment and disrespectful of their neighbors’ and public properties. Unfortunately, the town is not picking up this trash along the roadways, so it’s left to individuals such as myself to pick up and dispose of the trash. It is also disconcerting that individuals who are trashing our town might be jeopardizing the public’s safety by consuming large amounts of alcohol and then driving along streets where people might be walking or jogging at night.

I urge my neighbors, the Canton Police, and the Department of Public Works to take action to prevent the littering and suggest that the Canton Police and superintendent of schools look into who is drinking in public and leaving their litter behind.

I have enclosed a photo of two bags of litter that I picked up on Sunday along the course of just 30 feet along Cedar Street next to the Ponkapoag playground.

Sincerely,

Sylvia Salas
