John F. Enos, Jr., formerly of Canton, of Stoughton, passed away March 13 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.

Born and raised in Edgartown, he graduated from Edgartown High School. He served in the Navy Seabees during WWII. He worked as a cement mason for Local 534 in Boston for many years and served as the vice president of Local 534 before retiring.

After his retirement from the union, he was a crossing guard for the Stoughton Public Schools and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and was an avid reader. He has lived in Stoughton for the last 10 years where he was a member of the Stoughton VFW, and he previously lived in Canton for 38 years.

Beloved husband of Joan E. (McDonald). Father of Jack Enos and his wife, Mary, of Sandwich, Judi Connors and her husband, Danny, of Sandwich, Sharon Penza and her husband, Jim, of Canton, Roderick Enos and his wife, Lynne, of Westford, Carol Hardy and her husband, Robert, of Sandwich, Mary Slattery and her husband, Scott, of Uxbridge, Mitchell Enos and his wife, Donna, of Stoughton, and Wallie Ellis and her husband, Richard, of Sandwich. Brother of Richard Enos of Edgartown. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Thursday, March 15, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral mass at Holy Trinity Parish, 246 Main Street, W. Harwich, Friday morning at 10.
