Sullivan, John J.

By

John Joseph Sullivan, of Los Angeles, formerly of Somerville and Canton, passed away February 4.

Beloved father of Kristin Amy Sullivan and her husband, David Orr, of Florence, Italy. Devoted son of the late Marion B. (Wholey) and Bartholomew Sullivan, formerly of Kenmare County, Kerry, Ireland. He is survived by his beloved mother, Catherine Sullivan (Kelly) of Donegal, Ireland. Brother of Ellen Sullivan of CA; Daniel Sullivan of Phillipston; Kathleen Sullivan of West Roxbury; Cornelius Sullivan and his wife, Nicole, and their children, Julia, Andrew, and Bailey, of Cambridge; Eric Sullivan and his wife, Maura, and their son, Brendan, of Merrimac, NH.

He was a proud Marine who served his country with passion. His career ranged from telecommunications to general contracting, but his passion was ornately welding wrought iron. He was an artist and lived life to the fullest with an ever-adventurous spirit.

Family and friends will remember John for his mischievous smile, his loving bear hugs, his crushing handshake, and the twinkle in his eye. Slainte!

A graveside service was held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Canton. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
