Missing man found on Ponkapoag Golf Course

A dog walker found a Boston man, listed by Boston and State Police as missing, on one of the holes at the Ponkapoag Golf Course on Sunday morning, January 29. Canton Fire Lt. Brian Marshall said the 88-year-old man was breathing but unconscious. Canton firefighters and paramedics transported the man to Norwood Hospital, where he was treated for hypothermia and lacerations. Lt. Marshall said the man had been outside for 24 hours and was wearing light clothing.

Two injured in motor vehicle accident

A teenage girl and her mother were transported to Norwood Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries following a two-car accident at the intersection of Sherman and Pleasant streets on Saturday, January 28, just after 3 p.m. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate the two victims from the car. The driver of the other vehicle, a pick-up truck, refused medical treatment.

Police probe Mechanic Street break-in

Police are investigating a house break on Mechanic Street that occurred Friday, January 27. Entry was gained through an exterior bulkhead, and another interior door was pried open. Police Lt. Helena Findlen said money, a pellet gun, and other items were taken.

Police arrest local man for scam incidents

A Canton man, suspected in several local scams, was arrested by Canton police for a warrant issued by the Ashland Police Department. Police arrested Matthew Pace, 36, of 26 Waterfall Drive, and charged him with larceny by false pretenses. Police Lt. Helena Findlen said Pace is being investigated for several scamming incidents. Findlen said people should be wary of strangers asking for money or pretending to be disabled motorists.

State issues date of next firefighter exam

The state Human Resources Division has set Saturday, April 28, as the date for the municipal service firefighter exam. Applicants can go to www.mass.gov/civilservice for a description of the application procedures, minimum entrance requirements, and information about the entry level physical ability test (ELPAT). Applicants are urged to apply online for the exam or call 617-878-9750.
