Hanton, Dorothea

Dorothea Hanton, 80, of Canton, passed away December 23.

Born and raised in East Boston, Dottie graduated from Holy Redeemer High School. She was a bank officer at Boston Federal Savings for many years before retiring in the late 1980s. She moved to Canton with her sister in 1973 and was a member of the Canton Catholic Women’s Club.

Beloved daughter of the late George J. and Julia T. (Larsen) Hanton. Devoted sister of Eleanor Hanton of Canton and the late James H. and Joseph P. Hanton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was held Tuesday morning, December 27, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dottie’s name can be made to the St. John School Foundation, 696 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021.
