Mario J. Gada, 94, a resident of Heights Crossing in Brockton, formerly of Canton and Stoughton, passed away October 18 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Born in Waterford, CT, he attended Chapman Tech in New London and the University of Connecticut in Storrs. He worked as an insurance executive for John Hancock for 37 years before retiring in 1975.

He lived in Canton for 40 years before moving to Stoughton in 1999. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2095 in Canton, a former member of the Sons of Italy in Canton, a crossing guard at the Kennedy School in Canton and a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable Foundation and the Underwriters Life Insurance Association.

Beloved husband of the late Margaret T. (Rufini). Father of Edward P. of CT, Dennis J. of Stoughton, and Margaret A. Stewart of Lunenburg. Also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.

Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, on Friday, October 21, from 4-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Saturday morning, October 22, at 10 a.m. in St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Edmund’s Retreat, P.O. Box 399, Mystic, CT 06355.
