The overall objective of the Canton Pop Warner program is to provide a positive forum to teach the kids the basics of football, teamwork and sportsmanship. In addition to the activities that take place on the gridiron, the entire organization is committed to making sure that every child keeps up with their academics and closely monitors their progress reports throughout the season.

After the first six games of a nine-game schedule, Canton has two undefeated teams and another in playoff contention. With the success of both the Pop Warner and Galvin Middle School programs, the future looks bright for Canton football.

Over the next few weeks, each of the Pop Warner teams will be highlighted, beginning this week with the Canton C team (ages 10-13).

The undefeated C team continues to rise to the occasion. They kicked off the season with back-to-back road games and came back to win both contests — 7-6 over Carver and 13-12 over South Boston. In weeks three and four, they soundly defeated Dedham and Sharon by identical scores of 25-0.

In week five the Bulldogs beat a strong Mansfield Hornet team 7-6, highlighted by a big defensive stop on Mansfield’s extra-point attempt. In week six the team took a halftime lead of 21-0 against Braintree and never looked back, winning 28-6.

On the offensive side of the ball, the team is led by the steady hand of quarterback Andrew Bryant; the agility of running backs Kyle Burke, Nick Allen, Alec Ragusa and Michael Panico; the pass catching and blocking of tight ends Peter Hudner, Dan Dillon and Dejvid Shala; and the powerful drive blocking of linemen Kevin Albert, Dylan Cunningham, Patrick Labelle, Jude Albert, Tony Harris, Mike Femia, Tom Delello and Kevin Cleary.

On defense, linemen Quincy Eutsay, Jack Connolly, Polan Makarov and Tyler DeMarco have dominated the line of scrimmage, while cornerbacks Owen Guerini and Jake Troderman continue to lock down on the opposing wide receivers. The coaching staff consists of head coach Doug Ragusa and assistant coaches Lee Bryant, Craig Allen, Jim Wild and Ethan Winchell.

Congratulations to the Pop Warner C team on an impressive season and keep up the good work. Go Bulldogs!
