Mary Lee DeCosta (McPherson), born May 5, 1931, passed away on the morning of June 25, 2011, at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston from complications due to a brain AVM. She passed peacefully at the age of 80, surrounded by the love of her children.

She was an accomplished artist and leaves behind an impressive collection of artwork that will be cherished. She enjoyed traveling with friends and made trips to Morocco, Spain, Italy, and had recently returned from her annual extended stay in Nassau. She was known by the many who love her as a caring and generous person with a lust for life, a wonderful sense of humor and a sharp wit.

Loving mother of Leanne DeCosta of Barnstable, Robert DeCosta of Hull, Steven DeCosta of Easton, Michael DeCosta of Easton, and Mark DeCosta of Barnstead, NH. She also leaves her 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Before retiring in 2005, Mary Lee was a vision therapist at the office of Dr. Wilbur Libby in Dedham. She also volunteered her time to work with deaf children and volunteered at Cardinal Cushing Hospital in Brockton.

A mass was celebrated Wednesday morning, June 29, in St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Denise Dolan Memorial Fund,” PO Box 4, Hull, MA 02045.
