Senior captain Matt Nichols had the game-winning hit in the Bulldogs' 5-4 comeback thriller over King Philip.

The Canton High baseball team is seeded 19th in the Division 3 south sectional playoffs and will play 14th seeded Norton (11-9) on Thursday at Norton High School, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

If Canton should win that game, it would advance to play third seeded Medfield (16-4) at Medfield High School on Saturday, June 4, beginning at 3 p.m. The top seed is Middleboro at 17-3. The playoff seedings were announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs concluded their regular season at 6-12 following a 4-3 loss to Stoughton and a come-from-behind 5-4 win over King Philip in the Hockomock League crossover game held at CHS. Catcher Matt Nichols had the game-winning hit in the victory over KP.

In other news, senior Matt Bernstein was selected to the league all-star team as a second baseman and a pitcher, and CHS head coach Junior Medina announced that Bernstein will start the first game of the playoffs.
