Nannery reaches semis at girls’ individual tourney

Freshman tennis sensation Erika Nannery continued her outstanding debut season for the Canton High girls’ tennis team with an impressive performance at last weekend’s MIAA South Girls Individual Tennis Tournament, held at Old Rochester High School in Mattapoisett. After dispatching Nauset’s Tori Paolino 6-4, 6-0 in the singles quarterfinals, Nannery advanced to the semifinal round, where she bowed out in straight sets to Milton’s top player, Ariana Launie. Nannery, along with older sister Michaela, has helped lead the Bulldogs to a 9-5 record and a berth in the upcoming south sectional postseason tournament.
