Domenic Alfano, of Canton and Nokomis, FL, died at Norwood Hospital May 24.

Beloved husband of June (DiTroia) Alfano for 55 years. Devoted father of Paul J. and Kathy Alfano of Canton, Carla and Jack C. of Oregon, and the late Mario Alfano, who passed away April 18, 2011. Cherished “Pa” of Will Alfano of Canton and Joanna and Jackie of Oregon. Brother of Armando and Jeanette Alfano of Maine, Anna and Augustine Colarusso of Danvers, Jo-Ann and William Maylor of Danvers, and Alfonso and Joanna Alfano of Melrose.

After graduating from East Boston High, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in Wyoming, working on bridges and dams. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and then graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in accounting. He was an auditor for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC) for 29 years and then an auditor in the Massachusetts State Auditor’s Office, specializing in housing for 19 years until retirement. He was a member of the Canton American Legion Post #24.

Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Thursday, May 26, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, Canton, Friday morning at 10:30.
