Drake-Bender, Agnes

Agnes Drake-Bender, 97, died February 13 at Academy Manor. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Calvin and Agnes (Drake) Foss.

As a girl she summered in her parents’ hometown of Pittsfield, NH, where she was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. She lived for many years in Canton and worked as a legal secretary. She was a graduate of Smith College in 1935.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan Wetzel of Reading and Caroline Tricca of Middleton; a son, Dr. Frank Bender of Escondito, CA; four grandchildren; a sister, Christine Brooks (recently deceased) and her husband, Gordon; and a nephew, Paul Gordon, of Brewster.

A graveside service was held Saturday, May 7, in the Floral Park Cemetery in Pittsfield, NH. Arrangements were provided by the Perkins & Pollard Memorial Home in Pittsfield.
