Election 2011: Chris Connolly for Planning Board

By

A self employed lawyer with a Canton practice focusing on real estate, Chris Connolly will wrap up his first five-year term on the Planning Board come April. It came as a surprise when Connolly first entered the Canton political scene half a decade ago. Relatively unknown in the community, Connolly managed to defeat incumbent Peter Pineo, who was chairman of the board at the time.

Reflecting on his first term, Connolly said the biggest project the board has overseen was the planned rezoning and redevelopment of the Plymouth Rubber site, a proposal he was against. But he warned the saga between Illinois-based Napleton Company, the owners of the Plymouth Rubber property, and the town is far from over. In fact, there’s an article before town meeting next month discussing this very topic.

With two kids in the Canton Public Schools, Connolly said he’s also worked to look at the impacts of development on the town in terms of infrastructure, especially the schools.

“I try and balance the interest of developers with the interest of the town, and create an impact that will not be negative for the schools,” Connolly said.
