Bulldogs go 2 for 2 in tourney action

Monday was a special night for two Canton High sports teams, as both the girls’ ice hockey and boys’ basketball teams opened MIAA tournament play with an upset win on the road.

In the Division 2 south girls’ hockey bracket, #10 Canton defeated #7 Wellesley 6-4 at Babson Rink in Wellesley. Meaghan McKenna had a hat trick for the Bulldogs, and teammate Casey Considine added two goals, including the game winner.

Meanwhile, the CHS boys’ hoops team, just 5-15 in the regular season and seeded 19th out of 20 teams in the Division 3 south, defeated 14th seeded Dover-Sherborn 58-46 to give the program its first tournament win since 2005. Canton will now face #3 Cardinal Spellman (16-4) Wednesday night in Brockton.

See this week’s Canton Citizen for additional CHS sports coverage, including a detailed wrap-up of the boys’ basketball team’s impressive tournament win over Dover-Sherborn.
