Moritz, Florence L.

Florence L. Moritz (Crosby), 89, of Canton, passed away at home February 17. Born in Cambridge, she graduated from Watertown High School and previously lived in Waltham and Easton before moving to Canton 20 years ago.

She worked as a receptionist at Dr. Michael Edelstein’s optometrist office in Waltham for several years. She was a member of the Hovey Players Theatre Group in Waltham, Stoughton Theatre Group, and several dinner theatre clubs.

Beloved wife of Dr. Robert P. Moritz and the late Whitney Shannon. Mother of Richard W. Shannon and his wife, Nancy, of Waltham; Marie I. Westcott and her husband, Robert J., of NH; Mark C. Shannon and his wife, Marjorie, of Waltham; and Gary M. Shannon and his wife, Paula, of RI. Sister of Isabel Viau of Halifax. Grandmother of Andrew and his wife, Ali; Julia Westcott and her fiancé, Jeff; and Cristina Black and her husband, Mike. Stepmother of Mary Bradshaw and her husband, Bruce, of KS; Robert Moritz and his wife, Deidre, of Canton; and Kathleen Costantino and her husband, Edward, of Lynn. Also survived by two great-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.

Burial private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 800 West Cummings Park, Woburn, MA 01801. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
