Eugene "Cal" CalibaniEugene A. “Cal” Calibani, age 86, of Stoughton, passed away January 20 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Born and raised in Newport, RI, he attended Rogers High School in Newport. He served as a first master sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for over 26 years during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Mr. Calibani worked for Boston Mutual Insurance for over 20 years before retiring.

Cal loved to volunteer for any organization and was a member of the Canton Veterans Service Department Honor Guard and delivered bread for many years to the local food pantries, senior centers and nursing homes. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Canton, the Stoughton V.F.W., the Stoughton Knights of Columbus, Stoughton Son’s of Italy and the Holy Ghost Society in Newport. Mr. Calibani has lived in Stoughton since 1968.

Beloved husband of the late Anne M. (Silva). Father of Joan C. Daughtry of CA, Mary A. Baptista of North Easton, and Michael E. Calibani of Stoughton. Brother of Virginia Miller of RI, Joseph Calibani of TX, Robert Calibani of OK, Anna Sabato of Turners Falls, and the late Everett Calibani and Catherine Mullen. Grandfather of Lauren Ritter of TX and Nicole Baptista of North Easton.

A funeral mass was celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church Tuesday morning, January 25. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery in Canton. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canton Veterans Service Department, 801 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021.
