Scott M. Herr Memorial Golf Tournament

By

The first annual Scott M. Herr Memorial Golf Tournament was held on Wednesday, September 29, at the Brookmeadow Country Club on a beautiful, warm sunny day — it rained the two days before and the two days after. Members of the Golf Committee included Canton residents Paul Nauyokas, Ken King, Jack Shea and Bruce Sarnowitz. The event attracted 144 golfers, comprising 36 four-person teams. Registration for the event was full, with a long waiting list within two weeks after it was announced. More than 80 raffle and silent auction prizes were generously donated by many local residents and businesses. Prizes included gift certificates, Patriots tickets, Red Sox tickets, and autographed sports memorabilia. The winning team (at 16 under) included Dave Rooney, Jay Cavanaugh, Mike Tamasi, and Lee Oldenburg. All proceeds from the event will be used to support the Scott M. Herr Memorial Scholarship Fund awarding scholarships to Canton High School seniors attending college. This past spring, ten scholarships were awarded to selected Canton High seniors in Scott’s memory. The event will be held next year at the same time.
