Timberline, LA Fitness celebrate milestones

LA Fitness of Stoughton recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of its grand opening. Timberline Construction, a general contractor based in Canton and serving ten sectors, completed the new high-end, modern, 45,000-square-foot sports club designed by Studio 222 of Chicago.

The facility is a structural steel-framed building with an EFIS exterior, high ceilings, and an open floor plan interior with amenities such as a basketball court, five racquetball courts, administrative space, multiple weight areas, exercise class room, spin studio, and a second level for cardio equipment, each with an LCD television. The club also features high-end locker rooms with saunas, a 75-foot heated indoor pool with hot tub, a day-care and juice bar with seating. The juice bar also offers breakfast, sandwiches, salads, shakes, protein snack options and sports gear. The club provides various classes throughout the week and personal training packages are available.

Timberline was also the general contractor for Canton’s first hotel project, Homewood Suites by Hilton, which opened in December 2011. The design of the new 98-unit, 80,000-square-foot hotel is the work of Archetype Architects of Maine and features high-end finishes. The four-story, open floor plan lobby features an indoor swimming pool with spa, exercise room, laundry room, a business center, as well as dining and sitting areas with gas fireplaces. The units are a combination of studio, one- and two-bedroom suites, each with a kitchen and sitting area.

Timberline Construction also self-performed much of the site work and carpentry using local labor. The project is the seventh Homewood Suites in Buffalo Lodging Associates’ portfolio. In addition to Homewood Suites, Buffalo Lodging operates other Hilton franchised brands along with a variety of Marriott hotels.

In 2002 Steven P. Kelly took over Timberline, then a small firm established in the telecommunications construction industry. In the last ten years, technology has significantly evolved and has changed the demands on businesses and the construction industry. Timberline’s wireless division has continued to grow to meet the new data, text and voice communication needs and serves the major wireless carriers, including Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T. The company was involved in the complex multi-carrier Distributed Antenna System (DAS) installation within the Central Artery tunnel to eliminate service interruptions. Additionally, Timberline’s 24-hour emergency response teams work around the clock during the major storms to repair and help maintain service.

Not long after Kelly invested in Timberline, he launched a General Contracting Division, strategically creating a diverse portfolio with an additional nine sectors: healthcare, academic, data center, corporate, retail, supermarket, restaurant, hospitality, and multi-unit residential.

In the last year, Timberline has completed projects for clients including Hyatt Regency Boston, The Forsyth Institute, UMass Memorial Medical Center, Fresenius Medical, Corinthian Yacht Club, CVS Pharmacy, Harpoon Brewery, GE Aviation, Starbucks, Stop & Shop, Hannaford and Chipotle. Some of Timberline’s current projects include the new Legal Seafoods in Hingham, Charlotte Russe stores, Savers Norwood, Infiniti Norwood, and Lexus of Norwell.

This week also marks the one-year anniversary of Timberline’s new website launch. In the years to come, the company will continue to grow smart and invest in technology, talent and internal team building, as well as client service and marketing communications programs.
