CHS Courtyard Makeover

By

On a recent Saturday afternoon, the main courtyard at Canton High School was treated to a makeover courtesy of the CHS Community Service Club. The project was the vision of club president Amy Hylen in collaboration with fellow members Alex Lopez and Warda Ahmed. Hylen wanted to start the year off bold and show just what a positive change and impact they could make on their school environment together. As Hylen notes, “One person can make a difference, but together we make change!”

The club would like to extend a huge thank you to LPR Landscaping owner Paulo for volunteering his time to help get the club organized and haul a truck-load away. A thank you also goes out to student Isabelle Crawford for drawing the Canton “C” and Bulldog. The project was a total team effort and it was well received by the attendees at the annual CantonStock festival.

Club leaders have great things planned this year as they look to make a real change in the community and help local families. They work with a number of organizations — Cornerstone at Canton, My Brother’s Keeper, Circle of Hope and the Canton Food Pantry, among others — and do many other acts of kindness throughout the school year, including birthday wishes, secret Santa, and clothing drives.
