By

Susan E. O’Neill (White), 78, of Canton, passed away September 7 surrounded by her loving family at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Born in Boston, she was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School, Class of 1959, where she was a member of the field hockey and basketball teams. Susan was a para professional in special education in the Canton Public Schools for over 30 years before retiring. She was very devoted to her students and developed a special bond with many over the years.

Sue volunteered in countless capacities while raising her five active children and enjoying her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Canton Historical Society, most recently creating a book cataloguing senior photos of every Canton High School graduate from the early 1800s through 2018; it was a labor of love. She was proud of her many years of work with Scholar Dollar raising thousands of dollars to help countless Canton High graduates in their pursuit of higher education and more recently supported Canton High School as a Canton High Alumni Association board member.

Sue enjoyed longstanding reservations with the same group of close friends for dinner on Friday nights, to any place they had a coupon. What brought Sue the most joy was spending time with family and friends and on any given Sunday night you would find her surrounded by them at the Town Spa.

Beloved wife of John W. “Jack.” Mother of Maureen Miller and her partner, Dennis Cadorette, Jr., of Abington, Jake O’Neill and his wife, Elaine, of Abington, Kate Baculi and her husband, Frans, of San Diego, CA, Nancy Powers and her husband, Rick, of Canton, and Michael O’Neill of Portland, OR. Sister of the late Frank White, Jr. and Jack White. Also survived by nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
