Register’s Corner: A History Quiz Pt. 2

By

By William P. O’Donnell, Norfolk Register of Deeds

Last year as part of the celebration of the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds’ 225th anniversary, the registry published a Notable Land Records booklet. It wasn’t that hard of a task to do, because, quite simply, Norfolk County is steeped in history. We are known as the County of Presidents, with four presidents having been born here. Additionally, we have had residents who have won Nobel prizes, Olympic medals, and astronauts who have walked in space, along with world famous authors, actors and musicians.

This year the Registry of Deeds will once again come out with a new booklet, highlighting a notable land record from each one of Norfolk County’s 28 communities. We will be unveiling our new booklet this fall at our open house to showcase the recent renovations, repairs and improvements to the historic Registry of Deeds building that was built in 1903.

But in the meantime, roll up your sleeves, pull out your No. 2 pencil and take the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds notable land records history quiz. Don’t worry about your grade; you will get an “A” for effort by just taking it!

Note: None of the questions you get today will be part of our next Notable Land Records booklet for 2019.
