CHS asst. principal chosen as district tech director

By

Julianne (Julie) Shore, CHS assistant principal and former dean of students, will assume the role of director of technology for the entire Canton school district beginning July 1.

In making the selection after nomination from an in-house search committee made up of school administrators, Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Fischer-Mueller praised Shore as a veteran educator with a wide range of experience not only in public schools but in the private and nonprofit sectors.

“Ms. Shore brings great knowledge, enthusiasm, and commitment to the district’s work in technology,” Fischer-Mueller said. “Her rapport with staff across a wide range of roles along with her demonstrated success in leading projects and programs in education technology make her an excellent fit for the director’s role.”

Fischer-Mueller added that Shore has proven to be creative and “uses technology as a tool do our business better.”

The position of technology director had been vacant for most of the school year following the resignation of April Goran, former administrator of instructional technology.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Northeastern University, Shore worked as an accountant for Junior Achievement of Northern New England, Sullivan & Folan, and The TJX Cos. She began her career as an educator at Norwood High School where she taught business and accounting classes for over a decade. She also served as a member of Norwood’s district-wide Technology Committee and as an instructional technology facilitator for Norwood High. In 2012, she was nominated by the Norwood Masons as Norwood’s Teacher of the Year.

Shore has served as an administrator at Canton High School since 2016. Fischer-Mueller said she has been instrumental this year in the “bring your own device” initiative. In addition to her degree from Northeastern University, she completed the Leadership Licensure Program sponsored by the Mass. School Administrators Association.

With Shore assuming her new position, Fischer-Mueller said the now vacant assistant principal position will be posted.

In other personnel news, Fischer-Mueller said Sara Donovan is a finalist for the PreK-5 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) coordinator position. Donovan has served as an educator in Canton for 24 years and is currently a technology teacher at the Galvin Middle School. Reference checks and a contract are pending …
