Marilyn F. Foley, 93, of Canton, passed away December 4 at Norwood Hospital after a short illness.

Born in Boston, she was raised in Dorchester and graduated from North Quincy High School and has lived in Canton for the last 61 years. She worked in the cafeteria at Canton High School for several years and was a devoted housewife and mother. She was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton and former member and past president of the Canton Catholic Women’s Club. Marilyn was a great cook and baker, an avid Boston sports fan, but she was most passionate about her family, spending many days and nights at the playing fields and basketball courts throughout Canton.

Beloved wife of Joseph W. for 64 years. Mother of Susan F. Mathena and her husband, Thomas, of Canton, David W. Foley and his wife, Karen, of Canton, Thomas J. Foley and his wife, Carol, of Canton, and Mark J. Foley and his wife, Shelley, of Holbrook. Also survived by 12 grandchildren: Matthew Foley and his wife, Arianne, of New York, NY, Jennifer Collins and her husband, Pat, of Norwood, Jaime Walker and her husband, Will, of Franklin, Kevin Foley of Austin, TX, Kerry Foley of San Francisco, CA, Meaghan Foley of Canton, Conor Foley of Holbrook, Michael Foley of New York, NY, Molly Foley of Rockland, Erin Foley of Holbrook, Shannon Foley of Canton, and Leah Foley of Canton. Also survived by two great-grandchildren, Braden and Jason Collins.

Funeral services were held earlier this week through the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, with funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church and burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.
