By

CHS Athletic Director Danny Erickson announced the appointment of Ben Shuffain as the next high school baseball coach, effective immediately.

Shuffain is a graduate of Sharon High School and Ashford University of Clinton, Iowa. He is currently a teacher at Saint Catherine’s School in Norwood, where he teaches history and physical education. He has experience as both a player and a coach, including stints in the semi-pro leagues in Florida and as an assistant coach at Sharon High. Erickson said Shuffain is also an accomplished Crossfit trainer, coach and competitor.

Commenting on his appointment, Shuffain said, “It is a great honor to be hired as the head coach of Canton High School Baseball. I don’t take this opportunity lightly. Canton has a long history of successful sports teams and even more so right now. I am looking forward to getting out there with the guys and evaluating the talent that we have. We will work hard, have fun, and do our very best to bring Bulldog baseball to its winning ways. Go Bulldogs.”

Erickson is also continuing a search for a head varsity softball coach. He has extended the deadline for applicants to November 25. Interested applicants must apply through schoolspring.com. The job ID number is 3006788.
