Police investigating robbery at convenience store

Police continue to investigate an armed robbery that occurred shortly after midnight on Thursday, September 27, at the 7-Eleven convenience store in Canton Center. Deputy Police Chief Helena Rafferty said the suspect wore a mask and showed a gun to the store clerk. Nearly $1,000 was taken in the robbery but no one was injured. Rafferty said police are pursuing several leads and have a surveillance image of the incident. The parking lot was also busy at the time and police are asking anyone who witnessed anything to speak with detectives.

Pedestrian struck by motorist near 7-Eleven

Canton EMTs transported a male in his 20s to Boston Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a car on Saturday, September 29, at 12:40 a.m. at Neponset and Washington streets near 7-Eleven. The incident is under investigation by police.

Glen Echo house fire extinguished

A power line touched by a utility worker apparently ignited an electrical fire at a residence on Glen Road, located in the Glen Echo section of Canton, on Thursday, September 27, around 10:30 a.m. Fire Chief Charles Doody said the electrical fire, which impacted the back wall of the house, was extinguished quickly and did not extend to the rest of the house. Doody estimated damage at $10,000 and said the house was still habitable. In all, 15 firefighters responded, including 11 from Canton and four from Stoughton.

Fire Dept. to host open house

The Canton Fire Department will host an open house on Saturday, October 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at CFD headquarters on Revere Street. The event will feature equipment demonstrations, “Touch A Truck” demonstrations, live fire extinguishment exercises, and a bouncy house. Pizza and drinks will be served.
