Boys lacrosse team clinches postseason berth

By

The Canton High boys lacrosse team is headed to the postseason after outdueling nonleague Abington 11-2 at home last Friday. The win also gave the Bulldogs a measure of revenge against a Green Wave team that ended their chance at a playoff berth in last season’s finale.

This time, Canton left no doubt who the better team was as the hosts reeled off seven straight second-quarter goals to take a commanding 9-1 lead into halftime. Griffin Roach and Kevin Albert each had two goals for the Bulldogs while Mike Shaw added a goal and a team-high four assists. Also registering multiple points in the win were Joey Vaughan (1g, 2a), Brendan Clifford (1g, 1a), Dan Cohen (1g, 1a), and Nick MacKay (2a). Brendan Albert turned in another stellar game defensively while goalie Jack Connolly tallied 11 saves.

The Bulldogs were due to wrap up their regular season this week with games against Milton on Tuesday and Franklin on Wednesday. The team will then await its seeding and matchup information as it prepares for the Division 2 south sectional tournament.
