Bernie M. Breiter, 48, passed away suddenly May 3.

breiter, berndBorn in Rockville Centre, NY, he was raised in New Hyde Park, NY, and graduated from New Hyde Park Memorial High School. He went on to graduate with honors from Boston University, earned a CPA from PWC in Boston, and then worked as a financial consultant for RSM in Charlestown for many years.

Bernie was an avid New York Yankees fan who played competitive softball for many years. He wore #44 in honor of his favorite player, Reggie Jackson, and exuded the same confidence and swagger in his play. Bernie had many friends and was held in high regard by all. He lived life with a youthful exuberance, seeking out adventure whenever possible. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was a good man by anyone’s definition.

Beloved husband of Mary K. (Overlan). Father of Robert M. and Madison N. Breiter. Loving son of Bernhard Breiter of New Hyde Park, NY, and the late Irmgard Breiter. Brother of Martin Breiter and his wife, Janie, of Rockville Centre, NY, and Arno Markatsch of Bern, Switzerland. Son-in-law of Sheryl and Lawrence Overlan of Canton. Brother-in-law of Elisabeth Branham and her husband, David, of Ashburnham, Alex Overlan of Boston, and Margaret Foret and her husband, Eddy, of Haverhill. Proud uncle of Alice, Alex, Max and Benjamin.

A funeral mass was held Wednesday in St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton. Burial at Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Breiter Children’s Scholarship Fund, c/o Bank of Canton, attn.
