William M. Carnes (Ret. Col., United States Army), of Canton, passed away January 23.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Charlestown and graduated from Malden Catholic High School. Bill went on to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Boston College Carroll School of Management. After graduating from the ROTC program at Boston College, he began active duty service in the Army and went on to serve for 30 years and retired as a colonel. He was a retired Boston Public School teacher and guidance counselor. He has lived in Canton since 1969 where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2095, Canton Lions Club, Canton Senior Men’s Club, former treasurer and coach of Canton Youth Hockey, and a CCD teacher and Eucharistic minister at St. John the Evangelist Church …
