Canton GOP committee to meet September 5

By

The Canton Republican Town Committee will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, September 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Canton Public Library. New members or visitors are welcome to attend.

The new chairman of the CRTC is Larry Overlan. A longtime resident of Canton, Overlan previously served as chairman in the 1990s and co-authored the 1993 book Time for a Change: The Return of the Republican Party in Massachusetts. An adjunct professor of business, economics and government, he teaches courses at several area colleges, including Northeastern and Suffolk University.

Additionally, Joe Paru, a new CRTC member, was recently elected chairman of the 2,000-member Massachusetts Federation of Young Republicans for a two-year term. Geared toward Massachusetts Republicans ages 18-40, MassYRs is a membership-based organization consisting of “smart, positive young professionals who share the common goal of electing Republican candidates at the local, state, and national level.”
