Wood, Robert A.

Robert A. Wood Sr., 87, of Canton, passed away June 12 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Norwood, he was raised in Easton and graduated from Oliver Ames High School and was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Robert was a member of the Marine Corps League and was a Golden Gloves boxer and won the New England Regional Championship in 1950. He went on to box professionally and had 53 fights, including an exhibition fight against Rocky Marciano, whom he sparred with on several occasions.
