Joseph W. Calabro, 92, of Canton, passed away at home May 13 surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Dorchester, he graduated from Boston Latin High School and went on to get his Air Craft and Mechanic Certification, working in Norwood, Rhode Island, and New York. He also was a welder at the Quincy Shipyard, an auto mechanic at Haynes Garage in Canton, and worked at Polaroid Corporation for many years before retiring. He enjoyed talk radio, reading, cooking, and fixing anything with a motor. He loved working on boats and took on the large task of rebuilding his own 35-foot fishing boat named after his grandson, “Lil Mike.” He was a member of the Town River Yacht Club in Quincy and the Salt Water Club in Hull …
