Shawmut Road building evacuated due to gas leak

A commercial building at 65 Shawmut Road that houses several businesses was temporarily evacuated following a rooftop gas leak last Wednesday, April 19. Fire Lt. Greg Woodbury said firefighters found a displaced HVAC unit and shut off the gas until the gas company arrived to make repairs. Firefighters responded at 12:41 p.m. and left the scene at 2:32 p.m.

Bertucci’s to host CFKWC fundraiser

On May 8-9, Bertucci’s restaurant will sponsor a Dining for Dollars fundraiser to benefit the local nonprofit organization Cops for Kids with Cancer, led by Canton Deputy Chief Helena Rafferty. During those two days, all Bertucci’s locations in New England will donate 15 percent of sales from dine-in, take-out, delivery, and gift card purchases for anyone presenting the Dining for Dollars flyer. Anyone who wishes to purchase gift cards should contact Rafferty at hfindlen@town.canton.ma.us. Rafferty said Bertucci’s has been a huge supporter of the organization over the years. The organization’s goal is to remove some of the financial burden from the stricken families so that all of their energies can go to helping their children beat cancer and live healthy lives …
