Annual Blue Hills Winter Fest set for February 28

Denny Swenson, president of the Friends of the Blue Hills, presents Rick Sampson, owner of Queen Anne’s Restaurant and Catering in Canton, with his fourth consecutive People’s Choice Award at last year’s ‘Battle of the Blue Hills Chili Cook-Off.’
The Friends of the Blue Hills will be hosting their annual Winter Fest on Tuesday, February 28, from 5-8 p.m. at Blue Hills Ski, 4001 Washington Street in Canton.
For those hoping to get some winter exercise, there will be downhill skiing and a guided night hike under the lights. There will be plenty of indoor fun, too. Adults and children alike can do a jig to the spirited Irish tunes of Songs for Ceilidh, sample some of the area’s best chili, make some creative winter crafts, or just warm up in front of the fireplace in the cozy ski lodge.
As added enticement, Blue Hills Ski is offering discounted rates of $20 each for all-day lift tickets, ski rentals, or lessons that day. To receive the discount, print out and bring the Friends of the Blue Hills homepage (FriendsoftheBlueHills.org) or Facebook page.
Four local restaurants will be competing in the “Battle of the Blue Hills Chili Cook-Off” that night, including Queen Anne’s Catering which has won the “People’s Choice Award” for four years in a row. Local elected and town officials will serve as judges in the competition.
