Smith, Donald R.

Donald R. Smith, 72, of Plymouth, formerly of Canton, passed away after a short illness December 31 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Chelsea, he was raised in Norwood and graduated from Norwood High School. He went on to attend Brewster Academy in New Hampshire and earn his BA from Merrimack College. He was an English teacher and hockey coach at Canton High School for 16 years and a member of the Mass. State Hockey Coaches Association. Don was an insurance broker for Dowling Insurance since 2000 and previously worked for American Hardware Mutual Insurance. He has been a member of the Bank of Canton board of trustees since 1998 and chairman of the board since 2012.
