Praise for Canton school music program

By

Dear Editor:

There’s sweet music in Canton now. Last Wednesday night I attended a concert at the high school. Having not been too impressed over the years by the music program, I was not sure things had changed. But they have, oh how they have changed. There was such an air of professionalism from both the directors, John Russell and Darrell Whidden, and from the students who participated. You could tell that they were committed to being the best that they could be and yet were having a great time. From the eighth grade chorus, to the a capella group, to the high school chorus and the select chorus, there was great music that engaged the audience and impressed all who attended. Whatever the dedicated teachers who lead these groups are doing, I say keep it up. I urge others to listen to some great music coming out of our school system.
