Based on the classic fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, The Snow Queen was adapted for the stage by Stuart Paterson with music by Savourna Stevenson. Showtimes are December 2 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and December 3-4 and 10-11 at 4 p.m.

Co-directors John Williams and David Palmer focused on the importance of the role when selecting the cast and what they could deliver to their character.

The Snow Queen, being the lead character and title role, was key in putting together Hans Christian Andersen’s vision, which centers on the struggle between good and evil as experienced by Gerda and her friend, Kay. Once that was completed, the directors could then focus on the co-leads: Gerda, Kay, Cobweb Spider, and Bhima (sun goddess). The supporting cast complemented the leads and allowed the story of The Snow Queen to be brought to life. Williams and Palmer worked with Stage Manager Barbara Carbone and Technical Manager Bob Cattel to put together a show that stays consistent to what the holiday shows have been about for now the fifth year — family.

Amanda Bell of Brighton stars as the Snow Queen with Canton residents Anna Hennessey as Gerda and Aoife Rebeka Barrington-Haber as Bhima, and Stoughton residents Garin Miner Drewes as Kay and Brooke Roderick as Cobweb Spider. Other cast members include Canton residents Alivia Hennessey (Ice Ghost), Nerissa Haber (Twitch), Cassidy Mackwell (Ice Ghost), Charlotte Gerst (Ice Ghost), Emily Russell (Redhead), Julia Gugliotta (Ice Ghost), Leah MacKenzie (Tough Bear), Marissa Shea (Ice Ghost), Olivia Durham (Ice Ghost), Olivia Mackwell (Muscles), Patricia Nedder (Robber Woman), Sadie Gugliotta (Niko) and Sam Burke (Prince); Stoughton residents Abby McNeil (Soft Bear), Anita McNeil (Grandma) and Samantha Croke (Scruff); Abigail Coughlin of Quincy (Princess Lena); and Aileen Lyons of Brockton (Queen Grin and the Reindeer).
