On Friday, November 4, dance studios from Canton and surrounding towns teamed up with Canton author Tara Shuman to present “Why We Hope,” an evening of “dance, music and hope” to benefit breast cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The event, which was held at the Norwood Theatre, was produced by Melanie Cox of Dance Out and featured performances by Dance Out, Edge Studio of Dance, Hazel Boone Dance Studio, and the Braintree Academy of Dance. Shuman, a high school English teacher and a mother of two, spoke about her own breast cancer journey during the program and read excerpts from her recently published memoir, Hope is a Good Breakfast.
