Suspect in Bank of Canton robbery apprehended

By

A Rockland man who was wanted in connection with a string of recent robberies — including the Bank of Canton’s downtown branch on Saturday — is now in police custody thanks to the combined efforts of federal, state and local law enforcement officials.

The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old David Poulos and he is also suspected of robberies in Weymouth, Braintree and Hanson.

During the Canton robbery, which occurred shortly before noon, the suspect passed a note to the teller and fled the bank in an unknown direction. No weapon was shown during the robbery.

According to Police Chief Ken Berkowitz, Detective John Ruane, newly promoted Sergeant Paul Gallagher, and Lieutenant Tom Keleher worked with the FBI, State Police, and the Weymouth and Rockland police to identify and apprehend the subject.
