Two residents of an Endicott Street home are receiving aid from the American Red Cross after their house was significantly damaged in a fire last week.

CFD Endicott FireThe two-alarm fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 13. One firefighter suffered a minor injury but was not transported to the hospital, according to Fire Lt. Greg Woodbury. Twenty-seven firefighters from Sharon, Norwood, Foxboro, and Stoughton responded, and all firefighters remained on the scene until 4 p.m.

Police Officer Robert Zepf kicked down a door to evacuate a woman living in the house. A resident’s dog was saved, but Woodbury said the whereabouts of the resident’s cat was unknown as of Monday morning.

Woodbury said the cause of the fire was an overloaded electrical circuit on the second floor.

When police and firefighters arrived they found grey smoke on the second floor. Woodbury said firefighters attacked the blaze from the interior and exterior and were able to save the structure of the house. Woodbury said fire damage was contained to the contents of the room where the fire started. There was also water damage to the inside of the house, and firefighters had to open the roof to extinguish the fire.

Woodbury said the house is not habitable at this time but is repairable.
