Concerned citizens calling for joint state senate debates

By

We are a group of Milton residents who are concerned about our democratic process: For the first time in 18 years, Milton and our greater district has an open seat for state senator and there has yet to be a moment when both Democratic candidates running for that seat have shared the stage in debate. (There are no Republicans running in this cycle.)

Only Nora Harrington appeared at the East Milton Neighborhood Association Candidates Forum on June 22 and the Tucker Neighborhood Candidates Forum on August 4. Only Nora Harrington has agreed to participate in the Fuller Village debate on August 18, the Stoughton League of Women Voters Forum on August 23, and the Junior State of America debate in Canton on August 30.

We are calling on both Walter F. Timilty and Nora Harrington to appear in joint debates prior to the primary election on September 8 in order to provide the public with the opportunity we deserve to make an informed decision about whom to elect to this important state senate seat.

Sincerely,

Barry Hume, Miguel Rodriguez, Jeremy Comeau and 65 others
