Viaduct deserves our attention and respect

By

Dear Editor:

I read with interest George Comeau’s June 23 article on the viaduct, which I consider to be the entrance to Canton. In the article, Comeau points out the lack of maintenance that is around this historic structure. This unique viaduct, which has been functioning for close to 200 years, needs to be brought back to its glory. I am not sure who is responsible for maintaining this area but would like to volunteer to work on this project. Perhaps the Community Preservation Committee could help illuminate this structure with new LED lights. High school students looking to do community service could help volunteer, and perhaps the Canton Garden Club and other community clubs can get involved. This historic structure is an asset to the town and should reflect the type of town that Canton is.

Sincerely,

Alan Rapoport
