Stop & Shop Help Cure Childhood Cancer Campaign through July 10

Canton resident Madison Bergstrom, 8, has been named a Jimmy Fund Clinic Patient Partner for Stop & Shop’s Help Cure Childhood Cancer campaign that supports pediatric cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The daughter of Shauna McLaughlin, Madison is a patient at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. She is one of two patients featured in the 2016 promotions for the 26-year-old fundraising program.

Madison is currently undergoing treatment for acute lymphocytic leukemia. In her free time, she loves playing with friends, conducting experiments, and loves animals, especially her English mastiff, Vince.

Now through July 10, Stop & Shop customers will have the opportunity to contribute to the Help Cure Childhood Cancer campaign at store checkouts. Customers donating $3 or more will receive a coupon booklet featuring over $85 in savings. Stop & Shop’s fundraising goal is to raise $2.5 million through the campaign. One hundred percent of the donations raised will benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

Entering its 26th year of partnership with the Dana-Farber, Stop & Shop has raised over $60 million for pediatric cancer research and treatment through its fundraising activities.

The Patient Partner Program gives pediatric patients and their families an opportunity to establish mutually inspiring, non-caregiver relationships with participants in fundraising programs of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. These special friendships can be a fun distraction from medical matters to partners and their families/organizations and offer additional inspiration to event participants for their fundraising efforts. It also illustrates to event participants and their supporters how valuable their fundraising efforts and contributions are to the mission of raising funds for cancer care and research.
