In the Spotlight: Canton graduates and dean’s list

Stephanie Gowing, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Gowing of Canton, graduated from Dickinson College on May 22 with a BA in psychology.

The following Canton residents graduated from Merrimack College in May: Cameron Goodman, BS in business administration, and Kayla Laughlin, BS in business administration.

The following Canton residents were among the 185 seniors who were awarded diplomas from Xaverian Brothers High School on Friday, May 20: Richard Astrofsky (Northeastern University), JohnPaul Bettinelli (Providence College), Christopher Carten (Xavier University), John Flynn (UMass Amherst), Robert Matthews (Wentworth Institute of Technology), Robert McClellan (Providence College), David Perry (Lasell College), Nicholas Shaw (Providence College), and William Wysocki (Bryant University). Bettinelli was also honored at the commencement with Xaverian’s Loyalty & Service Award.

Congratulations to Cassandra Grace Wesner of Canton, who received the “Serviam Award” at Ursuline Academy’s commencement. The award was announced as the “highest Ursuline award,” given in recognition of “outstanding leadership in service, awareness of others, acceptance of responsibility, and academic achievement.” Wesner served as student body president and captain of the basketball team this past year and she will be attending Boston College’s Connell School of Nursing in the fall.

Curry College is proud to announce that Alexandra Hansen of Canton has been inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, a highly selective international honors society for undergraduates studying communication who have achieved a high level of academic excellence.

Holly Gibbs of Canton has been named a winner of a 2016 College Scholarship Award from the Greater Boston Plumbing Contractors Association. These annual awards are presented to children of families who work for union plumbing and heating companies in the greater Boston area. Gibbs currently attends Champlain College. She is the daughter of Timothy Gibbs of E.M. Duggan and his wife, Susan.

The following Canton residents have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire: senior Emily Bogosian, forensic science; freshman Julia Connolly, finance; and freshman Nicole Ryan, undeclared.

The following Canton residents have been named to the spring 2016 dean’s list at Stonehill College: senior Dara D’Agostino, psychology; senior Laura Hayes, education and American studies; and freshman Alana Murphy, chemistry.

The following Canton residents have been named to the dean’s list at the University of Rhode Island for the spring 2016 semester: Rachel Campagna, Devin Kincade, Bridget Monagle, and Carina Kilduff.

Julianna Howlett of Canton has been named to the spring 2016 dean’s list at Springfield College. Howlett is studying health science/occupational therapy.

Patience Bennett of Canton has been named to the dean’s list at Laboure College for the spring 2016 semester.

Dean College is pleased to announce that Bonnie Puccio of Canton has earned a place on the dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester.

Joseph Sabatino of Canton, a junior at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) majoring in mechanical engineering, recently completed an intense, hands-on research project in Namibia. The project was titled Animating Biodiversity: Creating an Education Film.
